foolDiarmuid

On a very clean, but not frequented street in Ionad there is an impressive 2-story building made of the fine-fitted stone construction Ionad is famed for. There is a beautiful, always-shiny brass sign above the door showing a serpent wrapped around a budding branch, the universal symbol of those who care for the sick. The redwood door has blackened iron hinges and a bright brass knob. This is the only door on the large building that seems open for business.

The herbalist’s shop is strangely small for such an imposing building; and quite quickly, when interacting with the proprietor, the small white fire burners and the many glass containers and hanging sharp implements make the place seem even smaller and slightly hazardous to one’s potentially already-endangered health.

Diarmuid seems quite young but is well into the majority of his 3rd decade of life. He is not exactly clumsy, it’s just that his attention can be quite… focused. When examining a patient, his dry fingers have a soft, kind touch. But watching him nearly destroy his shop on a regular basis just by walking around it to fetch implements or cures or reference diagrams hovers on the border between the hysterical and the gutwrenching.

Diarmuid has a strange view of the world, perhaps because of his fosterage in Cahál, and his rumored tutelage under a Pantri draoí (wizard). He appears to have been given the building by his father, who is some kind of Lord in the city (Diarmuid has never explained this). He doesn’t do well with people outside of his profession, and completely misses the doe- or misty-eyed looks of male and female patrons alike.

Once Diarmuid has a friend, he is their friend whether they continue to be his or not. He is touchingly loyal and sincere, and wickedly smart.

You have done something to become Diarmuid’s friend. Maybe he saved you, walking in the country. Maybe you saved him – possibly without him even realizing it.

Perhaps you are friends of someone who has fled his company and he talks to you endlessly about them, having taken you on as a friend (through the transitive property of friendship).

Meraig

HP_Tarot___18_The_Moon_by_Ellygator
You have only ever seen Meraig by fire and moonlight.

He seems tall, but in fact is shorter than average height.

He has strong, strange features and is gaunt like an old statue.

He has saved you, or done something for you that prevented your life being taken. He was clear that it was not for free.

He wears a small silver ring with a wolf’s head engraved into it.

He has something for you to do now, to pay him back.

What did Meraig save you from? Why might he have done that? What use might he have for your unique talents and situation?

Ilír

hermit_aaThe Siar na Siarái of Gaudr, Lord of the Vaulted Firmaments of Heaven, Ilír is the defacto head of the Day House in Foraoise, and arguably all the 5 kingdoms.

In his early 50’s, he is an Elder of Foraoise, but still strong. He is the personal counselor to the High King’s daughter, who is set to ascend the throne when he passes.

Known for his continued search for truth, peace and understanding, he has the ear of many of the kingdom’s nobles, even if only to be seen with him having their ear.

How is it that Ilír did not know they were coming? How did Gaudr not warn him they came to steal the seal adopted by his office?

Iabh (Iyanni)

Iyanni
Originally from the sunlands, she was stranded in Ionad some years ago. She currently works as a barmaid at the Goat’s Head public house.

Her copper hair and dark skin mark her as a stranger in Mawr, which she tries to hide.
