Faran’s Outpost is a small place, far from civilization, poised against a tense and alien wilderness. Fear is probably a standard of life in a place like this. Since the deaths and disappearances have been linked to an incident of foul play, fear is in the air like pollen.
Mayor Veritan Brand’s quick offer of 1000 GP for the rooting out of Elain’s killer and whatever witch might be infecting the Outpost was a clear sign of desperation that did not go unnoted by Gavin and Illyria.
The disappeared (or dead) in order of recent-ness: (W is the date the witch-hunter arrived)
Elaine (confirmed dead): W-7 days ago she was last seen in the evening by a mother whose son had (and survived) a fever. She dispensed the herb feverfew, and was found the next by the Widow Willenda Whitecoffee.
Malkrin: W-15 days ago or so, his shop was found emptied and he was not seen again. Last seen the day before by Aphorrisia Brand, the Mayor’s wife, who was talking to him about making a ring.
Old Andy: W-20 days ago or so, last seen at the White Bull, his tavern.
Vivaine the painter and her daughter: Last seen about a month ago. Vivaine worked part time at the Red Cross, an area by the barracks known for prostitutes.
Karris, gnome potter: Disappeared, leaving much of his stuff in his shop near the main square, about 2 months ago.
In addition, 4 children and 2 older people have died quite suddenly in the last year or so in a disease that Medicker Bolliher is calling “Silent Plague”.
The 2 victim’s of last night’s over the wall wolfen attacks are being treated by lady Illyria’s soft touch.
